Nepal Government Invites Applications for Board of Investment CEO Position.

Jun 12 2026, Friday

The Government of Nepal has officially opened the application process for the prestigious position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN). The vacancy announcement was issued by the Secretariat of the Chief Executive Officer Recommendation Committee, operating under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

The high-level position, crucial for driving foreign direct investment (FDI) and managing mega infrastructure projects in the country, has fallen vacant following the conclusion of the tenure of the previous CEO, Sushil Bhatta. Qualified and ambitious professionals have been given a 15-day window from the date of publication to submit their candidacies.

Strict Eligibility Criteria for Aspirants

To attract top-tier managerial talent capable of leading international investment negotiations, the recommendation committee has set rigorous academic and professional benchmarks.

  • Educational Qualifications: Applicants must possess at least a Master’s degree from a recognized university. Eligible fields of study include Economics, Management, Finance, Engineering, or Commercial Law.

  • Professional Experience: Candidates are required to have a minimum of 15 years of high-level professional experience. This must include leadership roles in project development, investment management, infrastructure sector promotion, or senior corporate and public administration.

  • Age Limit: To ensure energetic leadership, the committee has mandated that applicants must be between 35 and 65 years of age on the final date of application submission.

Rigorous Evaluation Process

Interested candidates must submit a comprehensive, strategic business plan spanning a maximum of 5,000 words. This plan must detail a clear vision for the institutional development of the Investment Board, alongside realistic strategies for attracting international capital and executing public-private partnership (PPP) projects in Nepal.

Following a strict screening of the submissions, the recommendation committee will shortlist the top candidates. These individuals will be required to give a formal presentation on their business plans, followed by a rigorous interview. The committee will then recommend the top three names to the Cabinet, which will make the final appointment for a four-year term.
